How to test speaker with multimeter

Start by removing the speaker wires from both speaker and receiver. Then, set yourself up so one wire is wrapped around each terminal of the battery. Set the multimeter to measure DC voltage, and touch the speaker wires to the probes. That will eliminate the speaker. You can eliminate the wire by twisting the two ends together.


About the only thing you can do with access to the two speaker terminals is confirm the DC impedance of the speaker (usually or ohms but often in-between).
