Two way light switch schematic

Two way switching means having two or more switches in different locations to control one lamp. It should also help in understanding the functions of each type of switch. This story features diagrams that show how to wire three- way switches.

These diagrams show various methods of one, two and multiple way switching. Switches are shown as dotted rectangles.

A two way lighting circuit enables one circuit to be turned on or off by either of two switches.

The circuit may have one or more lights in it.

This type of circuit uses two of the two way switches. Remember the Video is for you to get the Concept and understanding. A selection of two way switch lighting circuit diagrams for single and multiple lights with easy to follow circuit guides. This Pin was discovered by Spencer.

Three- way switches have three terminals, with the one that is not for the two travelers being called the common. At the hot en the incoming hot wire is connected to the common terminal. At the leg end the wire attached at the common is the one that goes to the light (s).

Typically, these terminals will be marked COM and L(sometimes Land L2). With the power coming to the switch and then going to the lights, you will notice that there are two black wires, two white wires and two ground wires (bare wires). Your circuit contains two 3- way switches. Referring to the diagram below: if the switch with the incoming hot is the one you want single control from (shown at left)-. In general, the electrical line will supply two live lines, one neutral line and one ground line to you install socket or switch.

Step : Turn off power at the circuit breaker that controls the light switch. Lighting goes from the ground up, even though it looks the other way around.
